形态描述
体椭圆形，尾部尖细。吻钝。口小，端位。颌各具2个 状牙板。体裸露，仅背、腹部正中密布小刺。背、臀鳍相对；胸鳍宽短；无腹鳍；尾鳍截形。背侧具1鞍状斑，背鳍基部有1大黑斑。
生物学
Body elliptic, 4 fused teeth in jaws, body naked and with only short prickles on dorsal and ventral midline, the ventral fins absent. This puffer is capable of inflating the body with air. An anadromous fish and enters rivers in the spring; the body length is about 100-150 mm. It is commonly found in the lower reaches of the rivers in south-east China.
